About the Artist
I delight in making art that radiates positivity.
Ideas and creativity as an independent self-taught artist have granted the opportunity for my work to be organic, genuine, and pure.
Art has been an evolutionary journey my whole life. As a child, nothing pleased me more than stealing away with my sketchbook and pencils to draw plants, animals, and landscapes of our family farm in rural Illinois. Those curious observations began my creative journey.
Art has always been a hobby of mine. Throughout my life, I have practiced with various mediums ranging from clay, metal, beading, sewing, and painting. I am drawn to the magical technique of reverse glass painting. I hope to encourage the beholder to look through the surface, explore possibilities, and search for a deeper meaning.
How I approach life is similar to how I approach art. I’m always searching for the hidden beauty that lies beneath. I strive to be transparent and be what I am, not what I am not. This is why I choose to paint behind glass. I hope to not only connect with individuals, but also to inspire one to seek purpose, look below the surface, explore possibilities, and find the hidden truth.
Having now retired from my 25-year medical career in anesthesia, my role as an artist has come full circle from a hobby to now a lifestyle. Art is the very essence of my inner self; I live it and breath it. I’m not sure where my art journey will take me, but I view it as a fantastic, exciting adventure and opportunity. Like life, my work is an ever-changing process of discovery and connection, always evolving to meet the demands of inevitable change.
